What is Healthy Young Minds?

Healthy Young Minds is a paediatric allied health clinic supporting children, adolescents, and young adults. We provide psychology, speech therapy, educational therapy, and assessments in a warm, neurodiversity-affirming environment.

What services do you offer?

We provide:

  • Child and adolescent psychology

  • Speech therapy

  • Educational therapy

  • Autism and ADHD assessments

  • Learning assessments (dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia)

  • Literacy and numeracy support

  • School readiness and giftedness assessments

  • Parent support and guidance

What ages do you support?

We support children, adolescents, and young adults, generally up to 25 years of age depending on the service.

Where are you located?

We are located in Bundoora, Melbourne, Victoria.

How do I book an appointment?

First you will need to fill out an Appointment Form then once complete, we will contact you to arrange an appointment.  Appointment Form are below. 

Do I need a referral?

No referral is required for most services. However, a referral from your GP or paediatrician may be needed if you wish to access Medicare rebates for psychology services.

Why do I need to complete an intake form?

Our intake forms help us gather important information about your child’s development, learning, health, and current concerns before the first appointment. This helps our clinicians prepare appropriately and determine the most suitable support options.

What happens at the first appointment?

The first session usually involves:

  • Gathering background information

  • Understanding your concerns and goals

  • Discussing recommendations and next steps

  • Developing a support plan tailored to your child

For educational therapy, placement testing may also occur to determine the appropriate starting point.

How long are appointments?

Most therapy appointments are approximately 50–60 minutes.

Assessment appointments vary depending on the type of assessment being completed.

Do you offer online appointments?

Some services may be available via telehealth depending on suitability and clinician availability.

Are your services NDIS-friendly?

Yes. Many of our services can be accessed through the NDIS if they align with a child’s goals and funding categories.

Do you accept NDIA-managed clients?

Psychology services may be available for NDIA-managed participants under appropriate funding categories.

Speech therapy and educational therapy services are generally available for self-managed and plan-managed participants.

Can educational therapy be funded through the NDIS?

Educational therapy may be funded when support focuses on functional literacy, numeracy, communication, independence, learning, or participation skills.

How do payments work?

Private and self-managed NDIS therapy sessions are generally processed via secure card payment through our practice management system.

For plan-managed NDIS participants, invoices are sent directly to the nominated plan manager for payment.

Assessment invoices may be issued separately for EFT payment.

What are your therapy fees?

Current therapy fees are:

  • Psychology Therapy (Private): $220 per session

  • Psychology Therapy (NDIS): $232.99 per session

  • Educational Therapy (Private): $150 per session

  • Educational Therapy (NDIS): $193.99 per session

  • Speech Therapy (NDIS rate): $193.99 per session

What assessments do you offer?

We offer assessments for:

How long does an assessment take?

Assessment timelines vary depending on the complexity and type of assessment. Most comprehensive assessments involve multiple sessions plus a feedback session.

Will I receive a report?

Yes. Families receive a detailed written report outlining findings, recommendations, and practical strategies for home and school.

Do you diagnose Autism and ADHD?

Our clinicians conduct comprehensive assessments and provide diagnostic opinions within their professional scope. We may also recommend collaboration with paediatricians or other professionals where appropriate.

What is educational therapy?

Educational therapy is an evidence-based intervention designed to support children experiencing difficulties with literacy, numeracy, learning, executive functioning, and academic confidence.

Is educational therapy the same as tutoring?

No. Educational therapy differs from tutoring because it focuses on underlying learning processes using structured, evidence-based interventions tailored to each child’s learning profile.

  • Visualizing & Verbalizing

  • Other evidence-based interventions

What can speech therapy help with?

Speech therapy may support:

  • Speech sound difficulties

  • Language delays

  • Social communication

  • Literacy-related language skills

  • Autism and ADHD-related communication challenges

  • School readiness and confidence

What concerns can psychology help with?

Psychology support may assist with:

  • Anxiety

  • Emotional regulation

  • Behavioural challenges

  • ADHD

  • OCD

  • School difficulties

  • Mood concerns

  • Sleep difficulties

Do you work with neurodivergent children?

Yes. We support many neurodivergent children and adolescents, including autistic individuals and those with ADHD, learning differences, and developmental challenges.

Do you offer Medicare rebates?

Some psychology services may attract Medicare rebates with a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP.

What is your cancellation policy?

We ask families to provide adequate notice if they need to cancel or reschedule appointments. Late cancellations or missed appointments may incur a fee.

Do you have a waitlist?

Availability varies throughout the year. If appointments are unavailable, families may request to join the waitlist.

Can siblings attend the clinic?

Yes. We support many families with multiple children accessing services across different disciplines.
